New Rowe AMI Memory Unit for R80S R81 R82 R83 RI-2 CTI-1SC
New replacement Rowe AMI Memory Unit PCB for R80S, R81, R82, R83, RI-2 and CTI-1SC jukeboxes.
This newly manufactured board is a direct replacement for the original 601-08584 Memory Unit PCB fitted within the Rowe AMI 301-07855 Memory Unit assembly.
The 601-08584 PCB is the electronic board that performs the Memory Unit functions. This replacement is suitable where the original board has failed, become unreliable or suffered damage from ageing components or battery leakage.
Compatible Rowe AMI jukebox models
This replacement Memory Unit PCB is suitable for:
- Rowe AMI R80S
- Rowe AMI R81
- Rowe AMI R82
- Rowe AMI R83
- Rowe AMI RI-2
- Rowe AMI CTI-1SC
Rowe AMI Memory Unit part numbers
This replacement board corresponds to:
- 301-07855 - complete Rowe AMI Memory Unit assembly
- 601-08584 - Memory Unit PCB fitted within the assembly
The 301-07855 number identifies the complete Memory Unit assembly, while 601-08584 identifies the electronic circuit board inside it.
This product replaces the original 601-08584 PCB and is designed for use in the 301-07855 Memory Unit assembly.
What the Memory Unit does
The Memory Unit is responsible for a number of important jukebox functions, including:
- Receiving and storing record selections
- Holding selections in a queue
- Controlling magazine scanning to the selected record
- Starting the record transfer cycle
- Selecting the correct record side
- Providing selection information to the selector display
The replacement board retains the normal operating functions of the original Rowe AMI Memory Unit while adding modern diagnostic features.
Autoplay functions
The replacement Memory Unit supports 20-minute, 40-minute and continuous autoplay modes.
Unlike the original Rowe AMI Memory Unit, which plays B-side selections for autoplay, this replacement board plays A-side selections instead.
Built-in fault diagnostics
Unlike the original Rowe AMI Memory Unit, this replacement board includes built-in fault-code diagnostics.
If a fault is detected, the board can display a flashing diagnostic code on the jukebox selector display. These codes can help identify problems involving areas such as:
- Selector communication
- Encoder feedback
- Record transfer
- Transfer-back and mechanism operation
A full fault-code table and troubleshooting information are provided in the Memory Unit Replacement Board User Guide which is available below with the "Instruction Manual" button.
New replacement Memory Unit PCB
Unlike a used original board, this is a newly manufactured replacement PCB assembled using new components.
Original Rowe AMI 601-08584 Memory Unit boards are now several decades old and can suffer from component ageing, corrosion, battery damage and intermittent faults.
This replacement provides a modern alternative to repairing or sourcing another ageing original 601-08584 circuit board.
Common Memory Unit fault symptoms
Faults associated with the Rowe AMI Memory Unit can cause symptoms including:
- The record carousel continually rotating
- Incorrect records being selected
- The same record being repeatedly selected or played
- Selections being lost or stored incorrectly
- Intermittent operation
- Faults that change as the jukebox warms up or cools down
Battery leakage and PCB damage
Original Rowe AMI Memory Unit boards can suffer significant damage from ageing or leaking batteries.
Battery leakage can corrode PCB tracks, component leads and connections on the original 601-08584 Memory Unit PCB, resulting in intermittent or permanent faults.
Where an original board has suffered extensive corrosion, replacing it with a newly manufactured PCB can be a more reliable option than attempting to repair badly damaged tracks and components.
